It’s been so busy here, lots of things to do, tons of pictures taken…
We’ve gone to Visegrad to see the castle, the Budapest Zoo, finally got to go on the sight seeing tour and today we are going to watch the Red Bull Air Races and later on the fireworks for the August 20th celebration.
Then on the plane Friday morning heading back to Canada.
I have tons of photos I need to process and upload so I guess I will do that when I get home. So stay tuned and I promise you won’t be disappointed…
We are back from the Danube, just getting sorted out, will upload pics later. But as promised here are 92 of the 300+ pictures we took on our day trip to Tihany (which is an island in the middle of the lake Balaton) and visited the church which is over 950 years old. One of the Kings of Hungary was buried beneath the alter in 1060.

We are getting packed for the Danube and will be leaving in an hour. Not enough time to sort through the 120+ pictures i took while at Tihany. Everything is going pretty quickly here, so even though we are enjoying ourselves, we are pretty busy. It’s two weeks today that we’ve been here, feels like we could use another several weeks just take take things in slowly.
Anyways, I will post pictures when we get back, I’ll be taking the laptop and the camera to the Danube and if we are lucky there maybe be an unsecured wireless connection otherwise look for an update Thursday or Friday.

Hey everyone, it’s almost 11pm here right now.. we are all pretty tired, the Balaton was awesome. Today was hot and sunny for the last day and the boys spent 3.5 hours in the water of the 5 hours that we were at the beach before the trip back to Budapest.
Now we will be doing some laundry, and recouping before we head to the weekend house at the Danube for about a week. we will have absolutely no internet, but I will post pictures and posts when we return…
Hard to think it’s already been close to two weeks… I could spend a few months here I think to experience everything.
We went to Tihany yesterday and I got some nice photos, I will post them tomorrow.
We expect the rest of the week to be much of the same. We will be back in Budapest on Friday to do laundry, etc and prepare to go to the Danube on Saturday for 5-6 days for fishing and frog hunting… We will update again on Friday, and do not expect we will have any internet access while at the Danube.

Yesterday we took a train ride to Kesthely from Balatonszarszo, Papa Les figures 150kms, took us about 1hour by train. (coming home was worse, had to get off and transfer trains, and it stopped at every town, probably double the time)
In Kesthely we walked alot! We were told the Castle was only a few hundred meters from the train station when in fact it was about 1 – 1.5kms away… and yes we walked the whole way there and back!
The promenade was cool, no cars, all shops, and place to sit
So we have been in Balatonszarszo since Friday, in a duplex cabin(apartment). The average temp is around 35 degrees and the kids have been enjoying the Lake Balaton everyday (except yesterday when we took a train ride to Kesthley, and today because it is pretty overcast)
The cabin is fantastic! Although we could cook, we have been eating out at the various restaurants here and having some very excellent cuisine.

We are in an Internet café in Balatonszarszo, so are able to read emails and do some posts.
We just got an email about the wicked storm in Calgary and area, and saw some pics of our damaged house. Thank goodness everyone is safe and sound.
We had a pretty decent storm last night too, but it blew or pretty quick and no hail. Helped to cool things off a bit, which was really nice…
Next two posts will outline our stay in Balatonszarszo and our train trip into Kesthely yesterday.

Hey everyone, been kinda of slow last two days, went to the big Mall, bought some stuff, rode the transit… Had Cherry soup yesterday for dinner (appetizer for spaghetti) Today we had a traditional Hungarian dish from McDonalds… Every morning we have tea, bread with homemade jams (apricot and cherry) along with peppers, tomatoes, cheese, salami, yogurt, etc, tonight we had stuffed yellow peppers in a tomato sauce, VERY GOOD!!
Did you know that you can get water “with gas” or “no gas” over here? (aka carbonated or not… we think its pretty funny and it’s a running joke in the house…)
The boys finally saw a Hungarian Lizard today ( see attached pics), they have been “hunting” them for days! it was the kitty who finally brought one home for them to see… (Riley released it to the safety of the cement patio…)
The weather has been around 32- 34 every day, (right now it’s 25 at 10pm and dark out) hot and humid… tough to sleep.
So tomorrow we will be heading to Lake Balaton for a week. Sue’s Uncle Imre has rented an apartment there for us to enjoy. So we may or may not have internet access. But will take lots of pics and post as we can.
We think Croatia is out for this trip, but we plan to go to Sue’s Uncle’s cabin on the Danube, for possible another week. (where the boys can fish and catch frogs…) most definitely won’t have internet access there but again will take pics and post as we can.
We are still hoping to make it to Transylvania (Dracula’s Castle) but will have to play it by ear.
